I. THE PERSON

From engineer to sovereign

His Royal Majesty Okporua I

His Royal Majesty Engr. Michael Ogheneovo Orugbo, JP, KP, was not born to the throne — he was prepared for it. Decades before the crown, he was building things: pipelines, enterprises, institutions, futures.

A trained engineer of the highest discipline, His Majesty studied Electrical and Electronics Engineering at Auchi Polytechnic before earning a Bachelor of Science in Instrumentation and Control Engineering from Teesside University in the United Kingdom — a rigorous field that demands precision, foresight, and the capacity to manage complex systems under pressure. These are the exact qualities a kingdom requires of its leader.

When Udu Kingdom looked to name its second Ovie for the modern era, it found a man whose entire biography had been a preparation — a leader who understood infrastructure and understood people, rooted in the soil of Ogbe-Udu and trained in the discipline of the world.
