Otor-Udu
From engineer to sovereign

His Royal Majesty Engr. Michael Ogheneovo Orugbo, JP, KP, was not born to the throne — he was prepared for it. Decades before the crown, he was building things: pipelines, enterprises, institutions, futures.
A trained engineer of the highest discipline, His Majesty studied Electrical and Electronics Engineering at Auchi Polytechnic before earning a Bachelor of Science in Instrumentation and Control Engineering from Teesside University in the United Kingdom — a rigorous field that demands precision, foresight, and the capacity to manage complex systems under pressure. These are the exact qualities a kingdom requires of its leader.
When Udu Kingdom looked to name its second Ovie for the modern era, it found a man whose entire biography had been a preparation — a leader who understood infrastructure and understood people, rooted in the soil of Ogbe-Udu and trained in the discipline of the world.
The coronation
The staff of office

Under Delta State chieftaincy law, the Staff of Office is the instrument by which the Ovie is empowered to discharge his functions as the kingdom's paramount traditional ruler — mediator of customary disputes, custodian of communal land, and representative of Udu Kingdom at the Council of Traditional Rulers. With its presentation, the reign of Okporua I stands complete in custom and in law.
The covenant of the reign
A flagship healthcare pledge for the welfare of Udu sons and daughters — the most-needed hospital facility in the kingdom, advanced under HRM's
direct advocacy.
A commercial landmark designed to strengthen trade and local prosperity — 604 lock-up shops and over 120 open trading stalls, opening new corridors for Udu traders.
A digital covenant ensuring no son or daughter of Udu remains unknown to the throne — a formal register connecting the kingdom to its diaspora across the world.
For formal institutional communication, council matters, or protocol-sensitive engagement, visitors are invited to follow the appropriate channels of Udu Kingdom — through the Office of the President-General and the protocol office of the Palace.
